Second Apprentice Supported by PMI
PMI Ceramic Trust have recently started financial support for a second apprentice, this time working in the advanced ceramics sector at CoorsTek, Crewe.

The role, based initially in the green machining manufacturing cell, will be supported by PMI for the first 2 years

Apprentice Lucy is learning the skills of both manual turning and CNC programming for machining complex advanced ceramics products.
Material knowledge, careful product handling and working to precise dimensions are all key aspects of the job to ensure the integrity and quality of product supplied to the kilns.
In addition, Lucy has already improved the organisation and identification of tooling resulting in shortened setup and turnaround times.
The apprenticeship is in partnership with NSEG Training Academy, Stoke-on-Trent.
CoorsTek Plant Manager Nick Quarterman thanked PMI Ceramic Trust for the generous support during a challenging time for the Ceramics industry.
This support is available to UK businesses in all sectors of Ceramics, so anyone interested is encouraged to reach out to us through our Contacts page.
