Frequently Asked Question

Here are some of the most frequently asked questions about the Trust and how you can secure our support.

Don’t worry if your question isn’t shown below you can always contact us below

Get in touch

How do I apply for financial support?

In the first instance use our contact form to give us a brief outline of what you are looking to do and how this will benefit you and UK Ceramics. An APPROXIMATE indication of the full cost would be helpful. If we decide to support you we will need fuller details, pricing and timing so that we can confirm that you fulfil our criteria and will fit into our annual budget.

How soon will I know if I have been successful?

Trustees meet quarterly and it could take several weeks to get a formal approval, but we hope to give you an in-principle agreement, or at least a request for fuller information within a couple of weeks.

I'd like funding for some training I did a few months ago- is this possible?

We are unlikely to support something without prior agreement.

What sort of things do you support?

Our remit is to support ceramic training and education, so courses, conference attendance (for presentation) and CPD activities are typical activities to which we will make a contribution. This would normally be to support eg travel, fees, learning materials.

I have a research idea I need some financial support for- would I be eligible?

Although we have made some contributions to facilitate research-related activities, such as conference attendance to present, we do not fund ab-initio research activities and would normally expect applicants to us to already be engaged in funded research.

How/when do I get my financial support?

Wherever possible we aim to make payment, under normal terms of trading, against invoices from the provider or against detailed receipts AFTER training/event has occurred. We do not normally make payments in advance or in cash.

Do I need to give anything in return?

We would normally require a short written report/pictures and information about your activity. We will (unless previously agreed) reserve the right to use your 'story' as part of our publicity and case studies (see elsewhere on our site).

How much will PMI provide?

This is very much on a case-by-case basis, and will depend on a number of factors including a consideration of cost-benefit and our annual budget. We do not usually full-fund, but provide matching money or a contribution to your costs.

I'm a training manager and want to apply for one or several of my employees- is this possible?

Yes - in the first instance use our contact form to give us a brief outline of what you are looking to do and how this will benefit your employees and UK Ceramics. An APPROXIMATE indication of the full cost would be helpful. If we decide to support you we will need fuller details, pricing and timing so that we can confirm that you fulfil our criteria and will fit into our annual budget.

I'd really rather discuss an idea before committing to applying. Is this possible?

Yes - provide contact details and we'll try to set up a call to discuss. However, please be aware that Trustees are all volunteers with full-time jobs, and finding an opportunity in a working day may take time.
